In 1945, Edwin ‘Bus’ Hettig opened a small gas station with a two bay auto repair service shop on the corner of Main and Long.
For 16 years, Hettig’s Service remained there, until in 1961 when it relocated to the corner of Main and Union.
Around 1972, Mark Murtha, a young man of nineteen, started working for Bus, pumping gas and cleaning windshields. As he moved into the shop and began to work on cars, he gained a great deal of experience under Bus’ guidance. This experience provided the foundation in what was to become his future.
In 1980, after 35 years in business, Bus decided to retire and sold the shop to Mark.
Over the years, as the shop has grown, Hettig’s has moved a number of times...from the corner of Main and Union to Main and Park Club and now to its current location at 16 Mill St. near the corner of Main and Mill.
For over 65 years, Hettig’s Service Inc. has been in the business of diagnosing and repairing your vehicle and making it right with honesty and integrity. With more than 100 years of combined knowledge and experience, we will do all we can to make sure your vehicle is repaired in a timely manner and for a fair price.
